Through in-person and online gatherings, original research, storytelling, and funded joint communities and projects, you’ll deepen your understanding of concepts like othering, belonging, breaking, and bridging. You'll also share practices and strategies to counter polarization and democratic erosion while navigating the complexities of power, privilege, and positionality in our diverse social and cultural contexts.

Virtual event series

  • Processing Politics

    Processing Politics

    Monthly virtual series where Forum members can make sense of—and collectively process—ongoing political developments through a bridging and belonging lens.

  • Bridgers' Roundtable

    Bi-monthly virtual meetups to exchange insights on depolarization and facilitate dialogue, while sharing experiences in bridging divides.

  • Making Sense Of...

    Monthly virtual series of sensemaking sessions with experts and practitioners to deepen our collective understanding of unfolding events and explore the implications for strategy, alignment, and action.

  • Brewed Connections

    Monthly series of informal coffee chats where Forum members are randomly paired to learn about one another’s work.

Member-led communities

  • Democracy & Belonging in Cities

    Bi-monthly virtual meetups exploring vibrant cities as dynamic environments for cultivating democratic participation and a sense of belonging. Led by Forum members Agnes Meneses and Mat Cotton, and supported by the Democracy & Belonging Forum.

  • Coming Home Through Adopted Family

    Bi-monthly virtual meetups exploring new, intergenerational relationships as a way to deepen our connection to family and belonging. Led by Forum member Edwin Zhao and supported by the Democracy & Belonging Forum.

  • Escaping Authoritarianism Through Community

    A space for building community through mutual aid, resistance, and connection—an alternative to disconnection, alienation, and authoritarianism. Open to all, rooted in Mexico City, and extending beyond through Zoom. Led by Forum member Hilda Landrove, and supported by the Democracy & Belonging Forum.

  • Les Gouters historiques/ The Historical Gatherings

    Monthly gatherings at the community café for Chalais and Saint-Jory-de-Chalais residents, uniting elders and younger generations to share life stories, memories, and local knowledge. Led by Forum member alexandra georges-picot in partnership with Xavier Arrateig, and supported by the Democracy & Belonging Forum.

  • Common Ground Collective

    A movement-building initiative addressing the challenge of othering while fostering belonging and bridging across diverse groups. The program brings together participants from diverse backgrounds to engage in structured conversations that celebrate differences and illuminate common ground. Led by Forum member David A Brown, and supported by the Democracy & Belonging Forum.

  • Les Aristides: A table.

    Bi-weekly dinner gatherings that provide frontline activists with a space for connection, learning, and meaningful dialogue. Led by Forum member Sam Hathroubi, and supported by the Democracy & Belonging Forum.

  • Introduction To Bridging & Belonging Orientation Program

    Biannual program for new and current members interested in more deeply grappling with Othering & Belonging frameworks and connecting with fellow Forum members.
